The municipality of Bons-en-Chablais was established in 1966, by prefectoral decree, from the merger of three former villages: Bons, Brens, and Saint-Didier. Undergoing expansion, it is energizing and urbanizing over time.
The area of the municipality covers 19 km², and its altitude at the chief town is 565 meters. The city has been twinned since 2000 with the Lombard municipality of Castione della Presolana in Italy.
Year after year, Bons-en-Chablais develops with respect for its environment and quality of life. The upcoming development of the ZAC des Prés de la Colombière and the expansion of the ZAE des Bracots are perfectly in line with this quality approach. The structuring of the municipality around a strong central axis, between the town center and the SNCF train station, will be at the heart of all future projects.
In terms of heritage, the Château de Brens and the Tour de Langin are magnificent testimonies of the past, and, since the 17th century, the Saint-Martin Fair has been an institution! The traditional tripe and the increasing number of exhibitors make it the annual must-attend event in Bons-en-Chablais.
At the service of the people of Bons-en-Chablais, the municipality has equipped itself with numerous public facilities, responding to the growing development of the population. It includes a middle school, a primary school group with 3 sites - 2 for kindergartens and 1 for elementary - and, for private education, a primary school group (combining kindergarten and elementary on the same site). The La Galipette nursery and childcare center welcomes the little ones. Culture, sports, and leisure play an important role with the presence of a sports area, a municipal school of music, theater, and dance, a municipal library, and a Childhood and Youth space. More than fifty associations rhythm the daily communal life.
